Baby tooth extraction at 17

I have a baby tooth (top right molar) that has an exposed root and its basically ready to come out according to my dentist. Theres no replacement though since im missing my adult tooth to come in its place. May 7th I have an appointment for an extraction and I was wondering if this was the move since chatgpt says its more optimal to remove the baby tooth since it can cause more bone recession leaving it than taking it out and having a bone graft done. I was thinking about an implant but im not done growing my jaw yet ( im pretty sure im not since chat says 18-21 for full growth.) so i cant do that. Any recommendations?
