I am a barber. Trust me it can be a bitch to find someone good to cut your hair. The reason why every barber wants to go short on the sides is because its quicker, which means more cuts and more money at the end of the day. I charge $40 to $60 a cut and I can spend up to an hour on a cut. Compare that to a shop that charges 16 and they will give you 15 minute cut. That's why you need to go to a shop whether salon or barber shop that charges a bit more.

I have always praised that longer hair, especially sides > short hair, fade

.....But actually after my last haircut, I think I actually look better even tho the stylist cut my hair shorter than what i usually prefer, sides and top. (Probably considered long/medium for alot of people here)
But because I still have a good hairline, it sort of helped the symmetry of my face. I get way more IOIs now too, especially from milfs.

Having short sides, or a fade (if your skull is half decent) looks more NT and less tryhard. Long sides can also make you look like a PSL autist sometimes. at least for me.

One other thought I have been flirting with lately on why fades actually might be good:
Girls tend to THINK that fades are attractive (in their head: having a fade=attractive), so you can sort of trick them into thinking ur more attractive than u are. this is hard to explain but i can explain it better on request if u dont understand

Agreed. If you have a strong hairline, clean cut could be the way to go. The long hair attracts more of a niche, but a lot of the mainstream would prefer a clean fade.

Cap most saloons suck. Where I live if your going to go to a saloon, their basically going to dedicate the same time to the cut as most basic barbershops. But instead of getting cut by a dude that cuts men all day, you'll get cut by a lady that colours hair and cuts womans hair all day.

1. ask for scissors ONLY all over. The top should be 4 inches and the sides should be 1.5 inches at the lowest

2. Ask for them to texturize it with point cutting. The texture really makes this haircut “pop”

3. ask for thinning shears around the neck and ear lobe.

4. tell them “no line up at the back or around the ear”. At the nape hairline there is no line or at the side burns

5. use a bit of hair wax or putty and slick it back. Slick the sides back too
