Becoming 17 has made my depression miles worse

Why what happened?
Everyone hates me
Im an awful friend to the one singular one I actually do have
My parents dont love me
I cant go out in public because of my looks
I have awful anxiety and depression
Im hated by basically everyone for God knows what reason
Pretty much everything in my life

All of this is just pain from how people perceive you, just find something you enjoy man

How am I supposed to reject them
before we do that its right to ask the question of whether said inherited values can be rejected in the first place or are we fundamentally slaves to them without hope.

The undeniable answer to me is that yes we can indeed supersede them. A great introduction to this sort of thinking would be for you to read the apology of Socrates. It is very short and can be read in a day or two. It revolves around Socrates giving his final speech to the Athenian Court before they sentence him to death.

I highly recommend you find a free pdf version of it and read it as soon as possible. The contrast between Socrates and the masses is exactly the idea I'm talking about. The athenians are fundamentally materialistic, there values are based on things like money, power, social status etc. There actions are completely guided by them. Socrates on the other hand is the exact opposite valuing things like the soul, goodness etc.

This difference is seen most clearly when Socrates talks about what counts as "harm". The Athenian court believe that by imprisoning and executing Socrates they are harming him. However Socrates does not view this as being any sort of harm against him at all since they are not depriving him of anything he values he is only being deprived of the materialistic things the court values. Which is why he said a good man cannot be harmed by a worse man.

Socrates' behavior fundamentally comes fundamentally from rejecting consensus as the ultimate source of values and instead superseding them with his own ideas. People arent Gods, they dont determine right or wrong, their views on life arent "more correct" just because a bunch of people believe them and then they demand you believe them as well.

Socrates is a very good example of someone who has undone this brainwashed thinking

Thats a good idea tbh
China seems like a nice place to go
Ive always wanted to live in Russia too so I might try that
Go for it. But don't expect your friends and family to support you. Best keep it a secret until right before you're ready to go. They'll bring you down.
