You should atleast do 3 consults minimum. Its a big ass surgery so you better get several opionions on your case specifically. You should allways consult from a health perspective and talk about risks in your specfic case, what they see challenging.
Then ofc you should get aesthetic movements and know exactly what they are refering to about the movements so you accurately can compare the plans in the broad against the other surgeons you consulted. If they differ hugely something is off, i am meaning 2-3+ mm diffrences. Then you should understand why.
You should also present the estimated plan to several orthos and see what they think about it. You should also have a crystal clear understanding about the decomp in your case and why its necessary both in term of looks and health.
Also with any surgery even if money is short now or whatever, you should never cheap out or choose dependning on your budget. Then you might aswell skip surgery all together. Because shit happens
Also specific things thats important to habe extra focus on during consult:
-bone grafting
-position of the genio cuts
-position of bsso cuts (further back is more risk, front less risk)
-tmj health ( makes ccw and big movements unstable if bad)
-wisdom teeth removal or not ? ( should be done 6 month before)
-soft tissue thickness (can affect swelling and movements options)
-hardware placement ( important to consider, more when you actually get the plan)
Aesthetics
- lip competence
- too much chin forward(makes you look older, risk of mentolabial folds if low)
- ccw step off
- nose deviation if right or left side ways leforte
- ideal overbite for your anatomy, affects how lips look. If lower lip is full now big genios and bssos should be with caution
- risk of chimp lip
- how does it harmonize with upper face
-Forhead slant etc
- considering the plan on how you comfortably have your head
Thats all i can think of now
