I understand some of what you saying because I also know the average person's "kindness" comes more from a place of meekness and complacence rather than genuine care for others.

They act nice because it's the "right thing" to do and are scared of people's judgments. On the internet for instance people show their true, ugly faces.

I honestly believe most people are non clinically narcissists, meaning they won't be like Bale on American Psycho and won't ever kill someone, but will act passive-agressively towards others and take small, selfish actions with little regard to how it may affect others.
