I recently saw this thread:

It had me wondering. Since I'm recessed (recessed chin, and maxilla, but more so chin), would jaw and chin + zygo implants be more cost effective while achieving similar results result?

if you're actually recessed i'd do both, bimax is very helpful functionally

Definitely bimax but the recovery process is a bit painful

You're very right. My breathing does indeed feel more "suffocated".
I don't know if that's worth the money though...
Do you know of any alternative surgeries that benefit functionally?

I know this since if I face my head directly up and project my chin as much as possible and project my nose such that my nose doesn't look hooked, I breathe much better.

But I've heard that bimax may be underwhelming. Some people may not have the bones to get the intended result + implants seem to guarantee a desired result at a lower cost.

yes you can do palatal expansion , if you're under 15 it's pretty cheap and easy , otherwise it'll need either screws or a mini surgery , either way it's cheaper and less invasive then bimax

How would that help if the breathing issue is mostly bones migrating back into positions that partially obstruct the esophagus?

I'm so sorry, not the esophagus but the pharynx.
i'm not an expert , but from xrays on the internet before and after expansion , the pharynx seems to get larger

Of course they would. The maxilla and the mandile is no longer in the way.
Seems like only bimax could do that. :(
