What is the difference?
 
bimax is maxilla and jaw, bsso is just jaw advancement
if you have an overbite and your maxilla is not recessed you might opt for a bsso

Hmm, fairly sure my maxilla is actually very decent, I just have an overbite

EDIT: I take it someone without a recessed maxilla would look ridiculous with bimax?

yes but most people who have shit occlusion probably need bimax anyway I'd say

Bimax - maxillary, mandible advancements ( lefort 1+ bbso)
Bsso- mandible only
