The internet in 2000 was a small place. With very little voice. It is unlikely that Lloyd ever saw any of this stuff as an 11-year-old.
Lloyd got criticized much more vocally by mainstream outlets like Newsweek magazine (which was still mainstream back then)
What's more, Lloyd and his mother have never mentioned SW fans as sources of stress. They have mentioned his high school bullies, his press schedule and also sex predators sending him mail etc.
