Old couples often still like each other because their bond transcended pure looks, formed during their prime when attraction was mutual. Over time, shared experiences, loyalty, and emotional investment replaced visual novelty. It’s not that looks stopped mattering- it’s that the looks that mattered were already locked in.

I'm quite sure that there are old couples who began dating later in life? When they are both past their looks prime

Sure, old people date, but by then, looks are largely degraded on both sides, so it’s more about matching decay than sparking genuine arousal. It’s not that attraction disappears- it just recalibrates to what’s available. The biological drive for beauty doesn’t vanish; it just settles when options dwindle.
