I’m looking for some opinions. I recently had blood work showing slightly elevated aldosterone (263 pg/mL), normal renin (10.2 pg/mL), and an aldosterone/renin ratio around 40.

For context, I took MK-677 (ibutamoren) for about 1 month a few months ago, then stopped. Since then, I’ve had noticeable facial fluctuations—some days it looks normal, other days more “bloated” or full.

Could a mild aldosterone/RAAS imbalance like this be contributing to fluctuating facial water retention, even if values aren’t clearly pathological? Has anyone seen something similar after MK-677? Will it come back to normal

yes of course the aldosterone is contributing to facial bloating, if its been 2 months+ and those are your labs then it probably isnt from the mk. i was on mk and honestly didnt feel facially bloated whenever i didn't eat slop after 1 month but don't got labs to back it up

what is your sodium to potassium ratio through your diet and are you doing cardio?

if its that big of a deal for you eplerenone can probably easily fix your bloat and labs but that might be overkill since yours are slightly elevated and can probably return normal if you have good habits

Yeah I get your point, but in my case the timeline suggests it’s linked to MK. I took MK-677 for about 1 month and stopped about 4–5 months ago. Right after stopping I had clear fluid retention with pitting edema (lasting minutes), which has since improved a lot (now only a few seconds), but I still have day-to-day facial fluctuations.

My labs show slightly elevated aldosterone, normal renin, ratio ~40, so it doesn’t really look like primary hyperaldosteronism. It feels more like a functional RAAS adaptation rather than a fixed issue.

Diet is stable (no big sodium swings) and cardio is moderate. I also started eplerenone recently but since things are already improving, I’m not sure it’s needed long term.

I’m more wondering if a post-MK RAAS dysregulation could explain these lingering but improving fluctuations.

if its improving then you're chillin if its getting worse then thats a whole different problem, your body is probably taking longer to normalize than others from the mk

if you stay hydrated with electrolytes, adequate sleep and dont eat slop then it will get better

can't say much about ur case im j as confused tbh

after hopping off recently my breathing is still shit but it improved a tad bit

im still getting bloated too which is fucking retarded

Yeah I get that, and I agree it improving is a good sign. I’m wondering if I might have changed my system long-term, or if this usually fully normalizes with time.

How many time since u stopped
just 2 brah

i did try mk last year though and the sides lasted a while its fucking brutal

im hoping its the same case and eventually itll subside

wishing you the best this shit is literally the worst

When u hopped off last year did the bloat stay for months
And tbh ill never hop on that shi ever again , no benefits at all

mk677 raises ghrelin which stresses the body directly contributing to a rise in aldosterone i used eplerenone does not work at 25mg works only at 50mg due to how much mk677 raises aldosterone you could either go the route of arbs, eplerenone or ace inhibitors
my opinion use eplerenone if its too expensive i used azilsartan both work by blocking raas however eplerenone is specific for aldosterone

when you hop off clear with furosemide yes stupid as shit but its persistent for months after edema is slow to clear

Is edema caused by mk lasting 4/5 months normal ? Like now Im still a lil bit bloated

shouldnt be that long if your aldosterone is elevated 4-5 months after mk677 its a different underlying issue mine cleared first time in 2 months second time i just furosemided it away it shouldnt come back

I get your point, but mine has been clearly improving over time (pitting went from minutes to seconds). If it was a different underlying issue, it wouldn’t improve like that.

Also renin is normal, so it doesn’t really fit primary hyperaldosteronism. Looks more like slow normalization after MK rather than something separate.

if its been improving its fine but your aldosterone doesnt look strongly elevated its just slight chronic elevation but then again i feel like it shouldve gone away faster to be fair though im not that advanced in it plus studies on mk677 dont entirely cover it for aldosterone as long as its normalising maybe dont use furosemide maybe something weaker as furosemide does rebound so would make the effect worse

Thanks bro, so u think its impossible that it might have changed my system long-term (like my normal aldosterone will stay slightly higher for Life)??

thats what u get for taking shit compounds

i doubt it, would most likely go back to baseline

You cut too much sodium you dumb fuck your body releases aldosterone to maintain sodium potassium balance

I’m actaully curious why even run such a shit compound

looking into it cause im getting raped rn
