So, as with any surgery there's pros and cons. I'm aware Dr. Eppley does silicone implants, with extra security using titanium screws. This study shows 1 individual with 2 mm of bone erosion, IMO that's significant and would possibly effect the aesthetic of which was corrected in the first place. Obviously we lose bone as we age, but there's also silicone toxicity and a chance of long-term inflammation response. Genioplasty I think would be better, except that chance of permanent nerve damage, which a lot more people than noted end up with some pocket of numbness, which I don't think is a huge deal.
