Often people talk about bonesmashing on tiktok and other forums as a good way to grow the bones in your face, but bonesmashing actually doesn’t work how many peoplee believe, using wolff’s law as an explanation of it is inaccurate, since wolff’s law only applies to mechanical functional loading, such as running, jumping and lifting weights.

How bonesmashing really works (scientifically explained)
Bonesmashing works as a remodellation of the bones in the face, by smashing the bones, they are microfractured and broken, after this, when they are healing, they remodel into a different shape, since they have been broken and changed. This is normal bone healing and doesn’t change much the shape of the face.
The true bonesmashing method is called periosteal reaction. Not wolff’s law. This is a reaction that occurs in bones as a response to trauma, infections or certain drugs. What this does is after an injury in the bone area, it heals the bone in a stronger way, making it look thicker. This is achieved by damaging the bone, making it bleed from the inside and create a hematoma which triggers the bone to start healing. This is called callus formation and it basically takes care of healing the bone.

How to properly bonesmash
First of all, bonesmashing works but it takes time. 1 month of bonesmashing won’t make your face different. The bruising will make it but the bonesmashing won’t change.
What to do:
First of all, bonesmashing the zygomatical bones is quite risky, since if you do it wrong you may have asymmetry for the rest of your life. You can do it being careful hitting with your knuckles at the same time, for the best symmetry.
Bonesmashing works better while you’re in puberty, since your bones are growing and they remodel quicker and stronger.
You should bonesmash your chin, since it works the best as there is only one chin and you can’t cause asymmetry.
Bruising is good, thats what triggers the bone remodel and growth.

There are some things that people don’t realise when bonesmashing:
Some people bonesmash while having good bone mass, not realizing that under their fat faces, there are good bones.
Bonesmashing takes time.
It can damage your brain if you bonesmash too hard.
It causes asymmetry if you’re not careful

such a grey thread. Holy. Not a single medically accurate term used, no histological explanation, no ounce of understanding of BioChem. Just spewing bs that was believed on here 3 years ago.
