For about eight months, I’ve known that I needed to change my life. Around the start of the second semester, I realized I hated my school. I had no real friends, nothing interesting happened, and every day felt the same. I started skipping school because I couldn’t see the point anymore.
I felt stuck at home, waiting for the year to end so I could change schools. When summer started, I wanted to finally do something, so I planned to join a tennis club, meet new people, and make my life more interesting.
Then I went to Greece, crashed my dad’s motorcycle, and broke my wrist. Now I can’t even do that. I can’t join the tennis club, and even simple things like showering are much harder.
Also, whether it’s a career or a hobby, I need to feel like I’m either having a lot of fun or that what I’m doing is meaningful and impactful. If I don’t feel that, I lose a purpose/reason to do it. I know it’s a really stupid way of thinking, but I can’t control it.
For example, I can enjoy some simple hobby like making TikTok edits, but after a while I start thinking, “What am I actually doing?” I know it’s just a hobby and that’s the fucking point, you’re just doing something you enjoy without caring that much.
But for example, I think, “I want this to get a lot of views and grow the account,” but then I think, “I probably won’t make any money out of this, so what’s the point?” And you might say, “Well, just enjoy it,” but I won’t enjoy it for that reason. I don’t know if you get what I mean.
I think about my dad because he is the opposite. He is always happy, always doing something, and never bored. Even alone in Greece, he fixes his car, works on his motorcycle, goes to the beach etc, etc, and enjoys simple things.
I’m not trying to LARP as some high IQ, misunderstood person.
I don’t think I’m special. I just think I got unlucky in some ways, and some of it was also my own fault
