braces and rubber bands

I already got my braces in half a year ago, and i’m worried about maxillary recession or any other form of recession due to it, should I wear the rubber bands they give me? They’re class 2 elastics, thanks

also if I ask the dentist about maxillary recession will they look at me like i’m retarded or is that a normal thing to ask about

(also i got my wisdom teeth out and they wanted to extract submolars but i refused)

your actual basal maxilla won't recess only the segment of the maxila known as the alveolar ridge will recess resulting in a slightly narrower palate and a loss of lip/soft tissue support

elastics dont have enough constant pressure to remodel bone if it did then thumbpulling would work۔

if you wanna see my point look at any case where premolars were extracted if you calculate facial convexity/maxilla triangle test you will find 0 indication of۔ a recession

no they wont think you're retarded, I asked as well and they addressed my concerns. Ask them next time you see them.

ideally no try keep them ask them if they can do IPR or you yourself quit these orthodontists and get MARPE expansion done if you wanna keep all your teeth
