Braces elastic bands

Guys i have braces in both upper and lower jaw and both are recessed but the lower jaw is also recessed compared to the upper jaw that’s why i have to put elastic bands to make the lower jaw going forward to aligned itself with the upper one, but the thing is that i already have a recessed maxilla so i’m scared that putting the elastic bands will prevent my maxilla to grow or even make it grow back, so what’s your opinion on it ?
