Broke my ankle and ligaments in my foot... are my growth plates fucked?

I fucked up my ankle playing rugby a few days ago and it turns out I have broken my ankle in 2 places and tore a few ligaments. I'm in a boot and crutches for 6 weeks and I have been taking extreme care of my ankle but i've heard that a broken ankle can close growth plates prematurely... if this is true does that mean that my growth plates on 1 side will close and the other will stay open? And if so will I have 1 side of my leg taller than the other?

The doctor at the hospital said from the X-ray photos that my growth plates in my ankles are still open btw (16yrs old 6'2 btw)
