It's not just because of feminism/sjws/wokeness/etc that the most popular stories tend to have female main characters. Male characters are seen as bland/boring whereas female ones are seen as more complex and interesting.
And the brutal truth is that it's not even that far away from the truth.
The problem is that you can't actually create an 'emotionally complex' male character because they'll just across as faggots/gay for not having a two-dimensional masculine personality. Only foid characters are 'allowed' to be complex and explore their emotions. Male characters can't or they're dismissed as gay/weak.
Consider the original Avatar animated series Vs The Legend of Korra. The first series has a male Avatar/MC, and the second has a female one. Wanna take a wild guess which series has the more popular/well-liked Avatar?
Exactly.
Yang is just some faggot trying to save the kingdom as part of some generic hero's journey. It's all the other characters that keep the show interesting. Korra meanwhile is an actual three-dimensional character that's allowed to explore her insecurities and fears because she won't be labeled a faggot for doing so.
Jfl women have it better in every single area of existence. Even in fiction.
