There is a difference between being dominant and being a bully. A dominant person does not let people bully him whereas a bully goes after people for no reason.

Always wondered how bullies could push the limits so far and expect that the person wouldn’t retaliate.

My guess is they push it more and more and as nothing happens, come to the conclusion that there will be no repercussions for their actions

You slowly push the limits to see what they can take it's like how couples start off with domestic abuse you establish a baseline then bring the person to the edge then ease away. Then change the goal posts it will get progressively worse

No matter how settled or secured you are in life, we need one another no matter how weak or strong each bullies might be useful to you one way or another it is just a matter of the timing. bullies tend to pick on the weak because, they believe their is no fear of retaliation. Not realizing these folks can snap and go crazy and go shoot up your whole class-room. Humans are so weak they can die from chocking from eating food or even tripping and falling. The reason bullying is rampant among youths is because the bully is protected by society and laws. A 12 year old wants to impress a girl at hes school so she gives him a blow job, so he targets a low social ranking guy walking randomly after school leaving and pushs him to the ground. What happens the school calls just kids fighting, and the bully gets 3-4 day suspension of being home and playing video games.

That same 12 year old tries to do that at age 18 on a college campus, now police are called and hes arrested, the victims are more likely to put up a fight. And no the violence doesn't stop because these types get older, its because the targets begin to fight back and laws punish these types of violent people.
