Can heavy lifting stunt growth in young people?
i am 14 yo around 170 cm tall but since November I’ve barely grown at all. That’s also when I started doing heavy squats and deadlifts. I know lifting in general doesn’t stunt growth, but my numbers are 2.5x my bodyweight on squat and nearly 3x bodyweight on deadlift. I use perfect form and don’t train to failure. Could this be the main cause, or just a coincidence? also my dad is 178cm mum 168 and my sister is 176

if doing with really bad posture and alot of ego lifting it might

i am sure my tehniqe is great
yes idk alot about this i started going to the gym at 15 with a friend of mine we were both 170cm at that time then i quit he kept going now im 17 and 186 and he is still 170 😢

kind of yes its called Mechanotransduction or chronic stress

Heavy lifting doesnt fuse growth plates early unless you actually break them. When you lift your cartilage cells feel the weight and just get

stronger If you lift way too heavy with no rest it slows down cell division and stunts your growth or bad form fucks u up , but it still wont

fuse them. heavy lifting on ur leg days will deffo do it like squats and other shit

The only way they calcify early is if you get a fracture from terrible form. Then your body panics, sends bone cells to fix the crack, and

makes a bony bridge that locks the plate and stops growth So normal heavy lifting is fine just dont do over do or any bad posture dont go much on ur leg days

Mark as sollution

4.10 mom dad 5.6 imma 6.1 at 15 ( 6.3 final height estimated by plates(
good shi, and yeah parents height doesn’t always determine however it generally does. Did you take anything? That’s really interesting

lol that's just genetics, not lifting. u mogged him naturally

you are probably good if you dont do deadlifts CONSTANTLY, since its not the heavy weight itself, its the time you spent on your bones
