can you really get an athletic body just by doing push ups?

yeah, once you hit your goal go ahead and add in weighted vest +planks to get full body (upper body, abs, legs)
 
Yes I done it weighted and I grew a decent cheat and triceps. rlly good endurance but little strength. You will reach a point where you plateau and have to lift heavy weights at the gym
 
I got to a 100kg or so 1RM Bench Press without training it simply by doing push ups. I would imagine Dips can get you even further. One arm push up may be beneficial but I’m too weak to do a single one.

Hand stand push up is also a very cool exercise but I am too weak to do a single one.
