I'm 18 and my sleep's been fucked since I was around 15. Every night it's the same shit. Doesn't matter if I'm exhausted all day, the second I get into bed I just can't switch my brain off. End up lying there for hours thinking about random stuff.

I've gone down so many insomnia rabbit holes trying to figure out what's wrong. Kept seeing people say chronic insomnia can basically keep itself going, which honestly sounds like what's happened to me.

I've tried melatonin, magnesium, cutting caffeine, getting off my phone before bed, sticking to the same sleep schedule, exercising more, antihistamines, pretty much everything people always recommend. Melatonin did literally nothing. Antihistamines actually worked for a while but then they just stopped helping.

I even went to a doctor after dealing with it for so long. Tried a couple different prescription sleep meds but none of them really fixed it. One barely did anything and another helped at first but after a while it felt like I was back where I started.

I'm just sick of being tired every day and dreading bedtime because I already know how it's gonna go. Anyone else been dealing with this for years and actually found something that helped?

I had this when I was 13 all the way to 15, I would spend many hours just laying in bed, trying to sleep, checking the time over and over again. What helped was if I went to bed and recognized I wasn't tired, I would just stay up until I actually felt tired. I would go to sleep when I was 100% tired, not sorta tired, and then the problem just started to fade away as sleeping became easier
