When people send me their scans to analyse they usually fuck up a few things that make it hard for me to measure

When doing a CBCT scan do not use a chin rest, this not only messes with the soft tissue profile of your mentolabial fold but also causes you to bite down meaning it skews your condyle position

Keep teeth lightly in contact or apart slightly

You want to keep a head position where your eyes are looking straight towards the horizon. If you have a weak chin chances are you compensate by looking up to fraud your profile or if you have breathing issues you may tilt your head up which opens your airway up meaning it's less reliable to check your airway

Also alot of the time people with upwards head posture end up cutting off part of their supraorbital rim

A good FOV to aim for is the frontal bone down to the hyoid and posteriorly to the mastoid process of the temporal bone. This way you capture everything necessary

A final tip is to keep your eyes open the entire time, that way you can assess your IPD, vertical pupillary differences or assess your globe position relative to various landmarks

Remember your CBCT scan shouldn't be limited to just jaw surgery, you can do so much more if you have the knowledge to assess your skull morphology
