Your masseters will grow, this is a fact. Whether it helps you look better depends on a few factors, inward/outward gonions, whether you have an oblong or wide face etc. Usually it helps most people though.

To make gum even harder, you can freeze it and just stack more together i guess. At some point you'll just have to increase the time or endurance instead of trying to make the gum harder.
