It's because he's now living in Brazil... The North and Northeast are the hottest part but the Southeast can also be pretty infernal: I once was in Rio de Janeiro visiting my relatives then the electric company turned off the street's current to do some maintenance...

The air conditioner and fans turned off and it was 42C°/107.6F° with thermal sensation of 50C°/122F°... To them it is normal as the beach vendors will walk barefoot on the sand and sell food at a 12:00 noon, but to me it was hell even tho I used to live in Manaus (which is hotter but also has a lot of green, Rio is mostly urban): my only hope was to jump on my cousin's pool!

This is not fake: it happens everyday all over Brazil, 100% real... Well I don't know about the 3 Southern states where they even get snow during the winter
