Hey guys,

what surgery is more invasive and risky in terms of serious complications? Chin Wing or Bimax?

My bite is aligned, but my mandible is recessed (overbite). Thats why BSSO isnt possible and i need Bimax. I was wondering whether i can camouflage my (mild) profile recession with Chin Wing if thats less invasive and risky.

Thanks!

Bimax is more invasive but preffered in case of legit recession. It also has more functional benefits (genio (chin wing is essentially extended one) improves breathing too but slightly). About chin wing - there are various types of cut. Long, which goes up to gonions and affects masseters, is considered not so a esthetically appealing by this forum, however, shorter one can be quite good and gives you decent visual results. Do you have any x-rays or scans?
