Also attended a top research university for engineering and all the professors were super arrogant. They would never admit their mistake or acknowledge good work of their student.

Theres a difference between knowing your stuff and being arrogant. The most arrogant people I have met in my life are the sort of people who know alot about a little and then think they know alot about alot.

You saw it in the Ocean Gate CEO. Attended Ivy League college made submersibles but never acknowledged any ‘wrong’ stuff with his design. He kept defending it instead.

they get a lot of positive reinforcement. this is why you should always try and bring them down, sabotage them, destroy their life's work, try and stop their progress in life.
