We have all heard people say the phrase "confidence is key." It is said often, because often times it is very true. Having confidence in your ability to do something or speak to someone will almost always lead to a better outcome. It's having this confidence alone that can make things go better or worse, in almost anything that a person does. That said, some people have inherently more confidence than others. This confidence may be due to past success establishing confidence, or perhaps having an inherently elevated confidence due to genetics.

Having said all this, I'm curious as to what it is that may be responsible neurologically, in terms of neurotransmitters/enzymes etc, as well as specific strategies people have for maintaining confidence in their life.

While I understand on the whole that confidence is often a combination of many different neurological events, I also know that dopamine in particular can be partially held responsible for increased confidence. A great example of this would be cocaine use. Cocaine increases confidence in just about everyone. That said, reduced inhibitions due to increased GABA can also substantially increase confidence in an individual, as can be seen with alcohol or benzodiazepine use. Increased levels of testosterone have also been seen to greatly increase confidence. On the whole, it seems that there are a large number of factors that can come into play. That said, I'm curious to explore the basis of confidence and the means by which a person may increase their confidence overall.

Anyone know of anything in particular related to the subject?

I believe there’s more to that, positive / negative feedback loops might play a role , but the root cause is probably genetical

I always had low confidence despite living in a positive feedback loop, just like I know a lot of guys that are living in a negative one yet they are very confident. Then there’s people who indeed have low confidence because they have been treated like dirt all their life or ones who were treated good and are confident

I would say thats only the surface level answer

Positive reinforcement means jackshit if your dopamine receptors are downregulated and desensitized

The core of confidence is strictly neurochemical . Psychology comes at second place .

I’ve heard introverts naturally have lower levels / receptivity of dopamine , what’s your thought on that take?

Yeah compared to extroverts they have lower dopamine. Extroverts have a gene that makes them have higher dopamine levels compared to introverts.

Hm weird.. I doubt its genetical but it might be deeply rooted in ones childhood

If you have experienced some very bad trauma or hit to your self esteem during your childhood it would be hard to overwrite it with new experiences.

This is why there are so many mentalcels here.

Most people who look actually decent here and get iois most likely didnt get them in their early teens, now despite the positive reinforcement the damage to ones self esteem and confidence is most likely going to impact them for a VERY long time

I was about to say the same thing. It's likely the right combination of brain chemicals

This is me. In my early teens, I didn't get any attention from girls. I think that's a very formative time. Even if you get taller and better looking as you get older, not getting attention from the opposite sex when you're in your teens can leave a bad impression on you

A tip for confidence instantly is these steps which are legit. Imagine a big open room, where your the centre of it, then look around, get your senses right. Focus on your breath, and then remember your oneitis is most likely getting brutally fucked every day and enjoying it and you'll never even interact with her ever.

All seriousness tho, I think confidence is not an enzyme like your describe lmfao, it's just cognitive dissonance, like not thinking about other things. Forgetting they're all staring, forgetting about caring, forgetting your in front of a crowd etc. Just not really caring/not having the mental capacity to focus on it.

To wrap it up, burry yourself alive
