When it comes to Mixed Martial Arts, alot of "GOATs" come to mind. George St. Pierre, Jon Jones, Habib Nurmahomedov, Islam Makhachev, Anderson Silva, ect.
But for this to be an objective competition, we all have to look at what a GOAT should be.
In my personal opinion, a GOAT must be, above all:
Great. Now, what is greatness?
Well, by definition, straight from Google:
"Greatness is the quality of being exceptionally distinguished, eminent or superior. It applies to individuals, achievements, or concepts that stand out due to outstanding importance, massive scale, or profound impact on others."
First off, three terms stand infront of us that define it.
Distinguished.
Eminent.
Superior.
now, we must define these terms.
Distinguished:
Generally means to be widely known, respected, and admired for excellence or outstanding achievements.
Eminent (adjective):
Describes someone who is famous, respected, or important within a specific profession or field.
Superior:
generally means higher in rank, quality, or position. It can be an adjective describing something excellent or an attitude of being better than others, or a noun referring to someone in a higher position."
Doesn't That Sound Familiar?
