My understanding is DHA and EPA have unique health benefits in themselves and that flax contains mostly ALA, the conversion of ALA to DHA is only like 3% if I remember correctly, I already eat a decent amount of flax in my oats and smoothies
Yes, you are probably not getting much DHA from flax. I've never taken a DHA/EPA supplement, but it may be reasonable to start.
