When I was 14 I started lifting weights in the gym, that's when I when my growth slowed down rapidly, I grew from like 167cm to 170cm in almost 3 years. I always trained pretty heavy, for example I benched 100kg when I was 15 and 130kg when I was 16 (I'm still 16). 2 months ago I got an x-ray of my hand, wich said my bone age is 17 and that my bones are almost fully developed. The thing is my brother grew till 21 (176cm) and my sister till 19 (175cm). In addition to that, many people in my family got a very late growth spurt, but now my bones are too developed to grow that much. I grew like 2-3cm in 4 months and i think that was it, maybe it would be 7cm instead of 2-3cm if my bone age wasn't fucking 17:feelswhy:

im similar to u tbh

definitely. weightlifting will certainly screw up your spine and growth in your torso. but gymcels will cope and deny this. Its pretty much like being on a heavier planet but worse (because you will injure your spine). You will not grow as tall

Not if you don’t do compound lifts. If you are not squatting or leg pressing you will not “screw up your spine and growth in your torso”

Are there studies to this?

Very possible, many different ways it can if you aren’t careful. The main way it can is any sort of resistance training prioritises calories and nutrients to soft tissue before the bones, so if you weren’t eating enough, you were essentially malnourished

Weightlifting is about compound lifts. Cleans, jerks squats all load the spine. I was talking about the sport and not generic "lifting weights"

Studies ? Maybe take a look at how much weightlifters get injured. in the chinese olympic team for example. They're always out with back injuries and they're grown ass adults. A young teenager will certainly destroy his spine

Sorry for not saying it correctly, i do normal lifting/bodybuilding

if you're doing anything to load your spine from a young age, you will stunt your growth. its as simple as that. There must be no pressure on your clavicles, neck or your ribcage either. The only truly safe ones would be pullups, bulgarian split squats with light dumbells, pistol squats/or some variant of that, other trivial dumbbell exercises.
riding your bike, swimming and some sort of low contact sport is also safe because high contact sports will certainly fuck up your knees and brain.
