Had this same issue, personally I lathered my hair in castor oil let it sit for 20 mins and then shampooed it out. Sorta did the trick for me

Cap doesn't really covers full head. It would look strange if some part of your head is curly and other is not.

But slick back kinda works I have done it. It even stays for long periods of time, but you have to refresh it once a day by wearing beanie at morning.

After shower - just comb/brush your hair with hand or brush(bruh) so its not messy then just wear a beanie on their full lenght till it dries(you may wear it off 2-3 times and reshape your hair so it doesnt gets stuck on weird position, if that happened just put some water and redry it again).

Your hair may get TOO flat but its okay since your hair produces sweat and makes it more wavy and its okay on next day.
(but i am okay with it - originally frizzy hair doesnt really gets oily)
