Allâh said in the Qur’ân, in Surat Ash-Shura, ayah 11:

{ لَيْسَ كمثلهِ شىءٌ وهوَ السَّميعُ البصيرُ }

which means: « There is absolutely nothing like Allâh whatsoever, and He has the attributes of Hearing and Seeing. » This ayah absolutely clears Allâh of resembling the creations. It comprises that Allâh, ta`âlâ, is absolutely different from the creations in the Self, Attributes, and Actions. Hence, it shows that Allâh, ta`âlâ, exists without a place, because whatever exists in a place is, by nature, i.e., composed of particles, i.e., it is a body, occupying a space. Allâh, ta`âlâ, is clear of occupying spaces.

Allah clearly said in the Quran:

There is nothing similar to Him, and He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (Quran 41:11)

And just like it is forbidden to build idols or worship them, it is forbidden to build an image of Allah in your mind. Allah has no image and we must worship Him unseen or unknown.

In the first few verses it is mentioned about the guided people:

Those who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, (Quran 2:3)

Note the word "unseen" (Al-Ghaib). We are supposed to believe in Allah in a manner where we do not see Him, know how He looks, or try to imagine a way He looks.
