What is GT20029?
GT20029 is a first in class topical PROTAC (androgen receptor degrader) that recently finished its Phase II trials, unlike other topical anti androgens instead of competing or blocking receptors it literally tags the receptor in the scalp for destruction, it seems extremely promising and the most interesting in my opinion. Very effective for hair growth as well and reversing miniaturization of the hair follicle.
Instead of traditional small-molecule inhibitors that only block the androgen receptor or sit on top of it , GT20029 is a proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC) meaning if features a heterobifunctional molecular design composed of three separate functions. The way it works is by binding to the E3 ligase , than GT20029 and the E3 ligase bind to the androgen receptor and triggers ubiquinization (instead of sitting and blocking the receptor like kx-826 it instead destroys the receptor) and now since the receptor is destroyed DHT can't bind to it. Since it's topical this has zero systemic footprint.
Sure , it's wonderful. But is it easy to use ?
It is EXTREMELY easy to use , due to the fact that it's not competing or blocking the receptor constantly and it's extreme potency. Since it literally destroys the receptor we don't need to worry about that we only need to apply this only TWICE a week !
When will it be out so we can keep our hair forever ?
It completed phase II April 2024 , and projected to come out 2029-2030.
