I want to tell you my story. I was bullied for my nose my entire life, by my classmates and even my own relatives used to mock my nose. My mom would tell me about plastic surgeries that will make my nose sharp and slim which might cause mental issues to a kid.I was just 14 (approximately 1.5 years ago) and i did some browsing and came across a procedure called "alarplasty" which would cut off my nose wings and make it less wide. I thought that procedure is not big of a deal unlike rhinoplasty and i thought i could get it by selling my laptop. But the surgeon said i must be at least 17 to get it done. But i was desperate blah blah wont mention the depression part, it isnt necessary
My before and after:
Here my nose only photo and video with before & after transition
The main roots why your nose is puffy
If you acutally want to reduce the size of your nose, finding the main cause is a must
Overactive oil glands - when ur oil glands are extremely active, they can physically enlarge, since they are packed together tightly on the tip of your nose, this overgrowth thickens the skin itself leading to bulbous look of your nose tip
Clogged pores & blackheads - when pores fill up with dead skin cells and trapped oil, they physically stretch. High density of clogged pores or sebaceous filaments(greyish dots on the nose) can create rough texture that makes the whole area look swollen
Edema(fluid retention) - high sodium intake and dehydration + do some cardio this one doesnt need much explanation
Accutane nose job
our noses arent just a rigid structure of bone and cartilage, worth noting that the nose has the highest concentration and activity of sebaceous glands (oil glands) anywhere on the human body.
from the pic, you can see that oil glands sit in the dermis layer and it pushes sebum to the surface through the pores. When someone takes oral isotretinoin(accutane), several changes happen right inside this layer
Gland Atrophy (Shrinkage): accutane makes these oil glands to shrink severely and cuts facial oil production by up to 90%, because your nose is packed with these glands, the physical reduction in glands size causes the skin layer itself to become measureably thinner
As oil production reduces significantly, packed pores clear out and contract which eliminates the microswelling and the puffiness that oily, congested skin holds
Topical Tretenoin
Nose is the most common spot for sebaceous filaments(grayish pinheads of settled oil and dead skin). What tretenoin does is it accelerates cellular turnover(basically shedding old cells and creating new ones). It essentially forces the trapped oil and debris out of the pores deeply cleaning the area
It also visually minimizes large pores. Pores do not have muscles so they cant physically open or close. By keeping those pores entirely empty, tretinoin allows the pore walls to be back to its natural/unstretched size
There are many options when it comes to corticosterioids such as betamethasone which is considered extremely
but today i will stick to the hydrocortisone 1% as it is easier to be found and a safer option
Hydrocortisone 1%
if your skin is sensitive, i recommend you to apply pea sized amount to the desired area, wait 5-10 minutes before washing it off and as sadist said the results can last for a day. You should not use it for 7 days straight before taking a break. Stop using it as soon as you see the side effects.
I personally just leave it overnight and i do this for a week. It lasts around 3 weeks before my nose turns into the "no hc" phase. I have been using for over a year now and i have not seen any side effects.
The ordinary products
i find them really effective, most of them share the same design
To tackle oil, blackheads, and enlarged pores on the nose, you have to target two distinct issues:
excess sebum(oil) production and trapped dead skin cells
The Ordinary has a highly specific lineup of serums that address these concerns. They can be divided into three categories based on exactly how they treat the skin on your nose.
Alpha vs Beta Hydroxy Acids
1.Pore cleaners(Beta hydroxy acids/BHAs)
salicylic acid 2% solution(water based)
how to use:
1. 1 drop to the nose at night after cleansing
2. let it dry for a minute before you apply moisturizer
3. use it 2-3 times a week and do NOT rinse it off
salicylic acid 2% Anhydrous solution (oil based)
how to use:
1. 1 drop to nose at night after if you use any water based serums but before heavy creams
2. 2-4 times a week
2.The oil regulator
Niacinamide 10% + zinc 1%
how to use:
1. 1-2 drops to the nose daily(non-acid serum so its safe to use every day)
2. can be used in the morning or at night but after cleansing
3.The surface refiner(Alpha Hydroxy Acids/AHAs)
AHA 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution
how to use:
1.Use only at night and no more than once a week
2.make sure your nose is dry and not dump
3.it should be left on your nose UP TO 10minutes max, you rinse it off with lukewarm water
If you need more than one of this you should learn to combine it correctly and never use two in 1 night
also make sure to wear spf if sun will ever hit you, spf is a must
Last but not least: illusions and contouring:
This step is not the most crucial one but it definitely can help your nose appear smaller.
Growing your hair out will help by making your nose less prominent and taking away your nose being the center of attention. After that dont be afraid to try out different hairstyles until you find the one that suits you the most
Contouring
All you need is a tinted spf or if not a concelear alongside brown eyebrow pen.
concelear will hide the texture and brown eyebrow pen for the shadow
since my nasal bridge is wide and i have bulbous tip i just draw a line like this
this is more than enough for me. Instant fix
You will have to figure out what works for your nose, there are countless of nose contour tutorials on youtube

im not fully done yet but you can still clearly see the improvement
