Dermarolling questions

I just got a basic derma roller from target and I’ve been using it on my brows along with castor oil and seen progress pretty early on.
I used it on a post acne red spot along with aquafor and it went away almost overnight.
Does this actually work or am I being placeboed into producing more collagen??
