Well that’s fair enough to say you were rooting for him. But I think looking at the show in terms of a plot and critical perspective s9 washes s8

Maybe I should give it a rewarch because I watched it during a not so optimal period in my life.

Bro didn’t understand it as I said, their dynamic by far contributed the most to dexters character, yes Hannah knew the real him but Rita made him want to be a better person and appreciate human connection in a real way for the first time.

it wasn’t a genuine connection. he was just simply using her as a cover up and that’s why he cheated because he doesn’t truly love her. the first time they met he used their date as a cover up to kill that random guy. i will admit dexter did start looking more human after harrison was born but hannah didn’t need to give birth to his kid to have a good dynamic. hannah literally is the only person he loved so much that he’d rather be with her than kill people.

Also the cheating and shit with lila was intentional, Dexter multiple times easily could’ve walked out on Rita but felt an emotional and moral obligation to stay

he could’ve walked out before harrison was born but it’s kinda hard to find girls when ur that autistic. he definitely couldn’t walk out after harrison because he really wanted to make sure he wasn’t gonna end up like him.
