DIMORPHISM

I will begin by explaining the meaning of dimorphism as well as determining if someone has high, moderate, or low dimorphism.
I will explain which features give more dimorphism and which don't.
I will show examples of people with high, moderate, and low dimorphism.

What is dimorphism? (Google Definition)

Dimorphism is the existence of two distinct forms or varieties within a species or substance, seen in different sizes, colors, or shapes of individuals, or in the ability of certain fungi to exist in both yeast and filamentous forms. It's a concept that can apply to botany, mineralogy, zoology, and mycology (the study of fungi), with the most common example being sexual dimorphism in animals, where males and females have noticeable physical differences, such as size or ornamentation.

Now I know you didn't understand any of the shit I said there so now I'll give a more simple and basic definition:

Dimorphism is how strongly someone’s physical traits lean toward their sex. For men, it’s how masculine the facial structure and features are compared to a neutral or feminine baseline.

Determining if a male face is dimorphic or not heavily relies on two main factors:

- Angularity

- Misc Features

What is angularity?

Angularity refers to the shape and structure of the bones. Sharper angles and strong projection are more masculine while soft contours, and rounded shapes are more feminine.

Angularity plays a big role in determining dimorphism so I will now explain what I mean:

- High dimorphism indicates a very strong masculine development.

- Moderate dimorphism indicates masculine development but not as extreme as well as balanced features.

- Low dimorphism indicates softer, rounder, more neutral and sometimes slightly feminine features.

What are misc features?

Misc features are smaller details which include skin, hair, brow shape, voice, and more that don’t define dimorphism alone but strongly influence perception.

I will now explain which features are more or less dimorphic:

Masculine Features:

- Wide square jaw and projected chin.
- Good brow ridge, sloped forehead.
- Deep-set eyes.
- Broad, high cheekbones with lateral flare.
- Prominent glabella and nasal bridge.
- Longer more projected midface and lower third.

Feminine Features:

- Soft, rounded jaw and small chin.
- Flat brow area, vertical forehead.
- Large, round, forward-set eyes.
- Round cheekbones, less lateral width.
- Smooth glabella and small nose bridge.
- Shorter, compact midface and lower third.

Angularity & Dimorphism Relationship:

Core masculine features create angularity. The sharper and more projected the face is, the higher the dimorphism appears. Soft, rounded shapes usually indicate lower dimorphism.

I will now begin showing examples of people with high, moderate, and low dimorphism:

1759364216509

Josh has high dimorphism since he has good angularity and his misc features are masculine.

1759364453432

Zario has moderate dimorphism since he has good angularity but his misc features lack masculinity.
He would be called pretty by girls and he is feminine looking.

Jacob sartorius

Jacob has low dimorphism since he lacks angularity and his misc features lack masculinity.
He ranks very high regarding health indicators.

Ideally, you would want a good balance of both just like Zario which explains why he's so appealing.

HEIGHT

Height plays a big role in dimorphism as well.

Height is seen as a masculine trait because it signals strength and dominance.

If you are on the shorter side, your dimorphism detracts greatly even if you have other masculine traits.

Being short basically just overrides and ignores all your other dimorphic traits.

Which is why height plays a big role in dimorphism.

MUSCLES & FRAME

The biggest reason muscles and a wide frame are considered dimorphic is because they're directly driven by testosterone.
Testosterone increases muscle size and bone growth during puberty.

A wide frame and muscle mass communicate strength, power, and the ability to protect and provide.
Usually women will want a guy that can protect and provide for them so these are seen as attractive and dimorphic traits.

The goal of this post was to understand what dimorphism is, how it works, and what increases/decreases it.
