Do 5mg isotretinoin have a big effect on less natural UV skin protection?

Concerned about skin aging. I’m not taking 5mg for acne smth else.

Will it affect my sun light protection a lot?

It lowers your skins oil production so yeah. regardless you should always be wearing spf50 sunscreen whenever you go out

5mg is a really low dose I assume there shouldn't be an issue even for sun protection

Just up the dose and use SPF

Micro dosing isotret is bullshit, just do a normal full course.

Any dose of isotretinoin is gonna reduce ur skin’s UV tolerance to some extent. At 5 mg the effect is usually pretty mild, but u should still wear sunscreen regularly (preferably spf50 with pa+++)

If you're taking accutane for skin aging solely then you're already doing something wrong, Accutane doesn't do much to the dermal/horny layer of the skin in comparison to topical retinoids. Especially for aging/photoaging and skin cell turnover rate.

I've recently added tazarotene into my accutane course twice and my skin has never looked better even on accutane, very sensitive and burns when I put lotion on though but who cares. Don't be a pussy

This microdosing permanently with accutane is some bs clavicular idea that has 0 studies on it, studies show topicals are better. I think accutane is a shit compound outside of fixing acne so yeah do what you want with this info

Well said brother, if he wants to go the permadosing route he should at least up the dosage to 10mg and just use spf (even though topicals r way better on skin apperance lol) and idk why he just wouldn't use spf anyways

I think it's possible that he'll try tanning which is why he'd be interested in micro-dosing Accutane to avoid skin damage and abstain from SPF so that he's actually capable of tanning.

@Jesus_ist_König do you agree?

Damn dude

80mg accutane and a topical retinoid stronger than tret. I bet you probably macrodose vitamin A as well haha

Jokes aside though, why such a low inhib regimen? How have you been tolerating side effects and what are some controls you use? How much of taz roughly do you use per week, like a wallnut size EOD/EW?

I remember your opinion on getting bloodwork on 40mg isotret, which you concluded to be optional, and I'd assume you get bloodwork with 80mg involuntarily. How are the results?

speeding up the skin sheding process on my scalp
I think ketoconazole shampoo would have with dandruff, washing hair regularly too. That's what helped me and I don't get it anymore

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Yeahhh I've hopped off the 80mg though, back on 40 right now. 80mg made me want to beat the shit out of my girlfriend sometimes:lul::lul::lul: Got a lot of headaches on it too but it's also really hot and humid where I live right now so it's just amplified.

I use taz every night, I don't care for building up tolerance.

Burning for 10 seconds is not a side effect to me, Dryness isn't a side effect to me (just moisturise lolol?) and that's the only sides I'm experiencing. I think building up tolerance is cope, just tolerate it until your skin does.

I'm currently using pea sized taz nightly, and yeah I think my bloodwork opinion was stupid reflecting back on it. I still think it's optional but doing bloodwork beforehand is mandatory and so is doing one after a month. I think if you're fine from that point you'll be fine and is optional.

I didn't do bloodwork on 80mg though, I just looked at physical signs of more serious issues like liver/kidneys, I urinate fine, no weird discolouration. No jaundice or fatigue either. I will definitely do bloodwork this month though to see where I'm at!

My philosophy is, if it's temporary it doesn't matter. That's why I do a bunch of low inhib stuff:eek:

Good principle but I feel like you could apply a slippery slope here

Very true^ everything has flaws and I acknowledge that idea I have is flawed. I try not to take it too far

For example

Hopping on copious amounts of roids because the side effects can be treated/are temporary

But I think when it comes to something like skin, I don't think my skin burning for 10 seconds or peeling and being giga dry is enough to put me off it. Same with 80mg accutane for only 2 months.

No

It should do the opposite actually. It's vitamin A derived, which is beneficial for anti-aging
But sunlight ages the skin and if the sun protection goes down???

Well, at least you were able to get away with a lower boundary cumulative accutane dose in just 2 months. For many that takes +6 months just because they run conservative and rational (not saying what you did was irrational) doses.

Yeah I fully agree with you, it was pretty dumb especially without bloodwork but I think it's a good methodology. Similar to like running roid cycles, bursting high dose than go back to low to speed up slow down. I might start doing that honestly

True, though that's definitely different I mean that's called blast n' cruise in bodybuilding, such as running a high dose cycle with various androgens then dropping to a low/medium dose testosterone + tren, because you have to keep that muscle.

Same wouldn't really apply in Accutane's administrated doses, cumulative dose > daily dose for Accutane dosing.

Though I do understand what you tried to deliver with that analogy
