bascially don't let your orthodontist extract any of your teeth, also tell them to not "pull back" your teeth to get a good bite. if you have small palate and always can't breathe through your nose you should ask for a palate expander.

well it depends js dont let your orthodontist pull back your maxilla. I got lucky my ortho never touched my maxilla, and fixed my underbite so in my case they saved my recession.

They can cause recession if you’re using elastics or something else to correct your bite, yes

is there any way to prevent that when using rubber bands to fix my slight overbite or nah

No they don’t. Also don’t listen to these dumbasses saying elastics will cause recession. If your using class II bands you prolly need it more than it’s going to hurt u

It can cause very tiny changes, so we’re not “dumbasses” lol. But yes, it’s more beneficial to just correct his malocclusion than to worry about recession

Solution
Depends on what type of bite you have or if they pull out any teeth
