I understand all the science behind mewing and how constant pressure against the pallate can mold your face a bit, but is there actual proof of this and/or how long does it take? If not, what are the best ways to get better forward growth w/o surgery obviously

Cope cope cope

Maybe during adolescence or pre-puberty.

All mewing is good for is for lifting up the submental triangle/making you look like you've got less of a double chin.

idk abt chin tucks but mewing can help if done since like childhood maybe. its js abt the tongue placement n stuff. it would be practically impossible to get proof for this cus its not possible to hold an experiment like this.

meaning after puberty all mewing is is basically pretending you don't have a double chin by pushing the loose skin up?

I feel like a complete fool saying this but wouldn't that mean that you're just denying all of dr. mike mews research?

Chin tucks don't work, mewing is just normal tongue posture which has a meaningful impact on developing children as the pallet is quite malleable but if you are an adult with fused sutures than it wont have any meaningful effect, and the only way to fix deformities/recession is either through surgery or orthodontic intervention if its mild and or just dental.

would ages 14-16 be optimal or is that already too late?

Its not too late. I would suggest speaking to an orthodontist to see your options/their suggestions. If its something mild they will prob offer you expanders, headgear, and some other stuff but this is entirely dependent upon the individual (in this case you)

Btw if it seems like they are being dismissive you should seek out a second opinion esp if you are actually concerned.
