Are you talking about neuroplasticity?

I experimented with psychedelic drugs in my late teenage years as a means to expand my cognitive abilities and open the doors of perception that would allow me to connect with supernatural beings. I am fairly sure a form of reality that we cannot detect exists, though I could be hallucinating.
no dude your brain is playing tricks on you

Imagine getting your medical information from this 90 iq shithole lol

Is there a site with this kind of research like Pubmed?
For anything that doesnt concern politics or wokeness id recommend reddit unironically. Usually the smartest posts are upvoted most (again assuming the stipulations i just mentioned)

Also stack exchange is high iq as well

I've personally done some drugs both recreational, and performance enhancing. It hasn't had any negative impacts on my mental capacity, potency, sanity, or long-term chemical balance.

what did you use other than concerta and its derivatives

I've done mostly psychedelics when it comes to recreational use, mainly LSD but I've also tried shrooms. Then amphetamines for performance enhancement (mainly dextroamphetamine).

depends on age, if you take drugs in an early age it will affect brain development.

drug users have higher iqs and are more curious on average but all drugs cause brain damage

I'm not really worried about amphetamine derivatives. In fact, what concerns me are the drugs that regulate hormones.

What If You Take Nootropics ? :feelswat:
if you're messing with your brain, never forget you are MESSING WITH YOUR BRAIN they are literal drugs that make your brain do something it doesn't want to do naturally

not talking about vitamins and minerals

Don't we fix the things his body doesn't want to do with medication?

In what scenario ever would you take something hormone regulating (unless if it's for hairloss ofc)?

Even simple antihistamines are drugs that have cognitive effects, but what I mean here are hormonal drugs that affect brain chemistry (dopamine, serotonin).

There's a big difference between hormones and neurotransmitters. Dopamine and serotonin are both neurotransmitters, and I wouldn't worry if you don't use excessively.
In what scenario are you planning on using drugs, for what purpose, and how often?

During a period when I was suffering from attention deficit, the doctor prescribed Risperdal 0.25 mg. I did not use it, but I suffer from brain damage and attention deficit due to depression (I did not have it before the depression). I am thinking of using Concerta.

Well, using a stimulant such as concerta is going to increase your levels of dopamine and norepinephrine. Since you're already depressed and suffering from an attention deficit, you already have low base levels of dopamine / serotonin.
Since your plastic brain will adapt to the boosted levels of neurotransmitters your base levels will sink even lower.
Therefore, it is safe to assume that you will develop a chemical dependence if you start taking stimulants.

It is unfortunate to have chemical imbalances, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, but stimulants in your situation would be a short-term solution.

Well, similarly as concerta it is going to elevate your dopamine levels (+ serotonin), it is pretty weak though in comparison. You might get dependent to a certain extent, if you feel that it is even working.
Honestly in your situation I would either go all out or try to improve without substance use. I'd do adderal or vyvanse if you live in the US, and elvanse if you live in Europe. You will become dependent but if you're insured you wont ever have to quit. Personally I wouldn't recommend this option but again, I sympathize a lot with people struggling with chemical imbalances, and if you're gonna be a regular user you might as well harvest all the benefits that stimulants give.

Isn't it a dopamine blocker? I heard from you for the first time that it increases dopamine.

Yeah it does my bad, I'm quite unknowing when it comes to medication.
I don't understand why you would get a dopamine blocker though, since your problem obviously isn't mania or psychosis, rather the opposite.

Okay, people with ADHD have lowered levels of dopamine.
I'm not a professional but sounds counter-productive to me.

If ur gonna do any drug, do some prescription amphetamine. Anything else will be insufficient when you weigh the risks.
But I propagate for lifestyle changes if you haven't maxxed that part yet, it is difficult to get started when your dopamine levels are rubbish but you could try.

I was surprised at first too. I guess psychiatry is a bit of a strange branch of science. Jfl
