Do elastics descend you?

So I have basic overbite elastics with my braces (I haven’t really been wearing them ) but would they make my maxilla appear more reccesed or nah?

Yeah but doesn’t it pull the front backwards and pull the bottom jaw forward. Wouldn’t it pulling the front backward make you have a more reccesed middle third

yes it descends you, it decreases forwarth jaw projection, softens the jawline, and increases lower face height

it improves jaw position, so it would improve ur side profile but not to the extent of surgery and its not gonna do anything to do the bone
