I don’t know if this photo is any help in determining, but it feels like my tongue doesn’t have enough space to rest in my mouth, so I am wondering if I need a palate expander. Lemme know

probably nothing you have to worry about, but things like pre-molar extractions to fix an overbite would be camo orthodontics. basically anything that moves the teeth instead of fixing the actual skeletal deficiency.

as im writing this i js noticed u had braces on, so that is another example of camouflage orthodontics.

here's a clear situational example: imagine you have crowding on your lower and top teeth and ur bottom molars are inward facing or breathing through your nose feels like ur suffocating.
Which is the better solution:

-giving him braces to fix the crowding and align his teeth
or
-give him marpe + clear aligners to fix the alignment of the teeth and his breathing issues

the clear answer is marpe. the reason orthos will do camo orthodontics is because its simpler, cheaper, and costs less time.(basically js trying to make their job easier)

in conclusion: camouflage orthodontics fix alignment of teeth and not any sort of structural/skeletal defeciency
