This is apparently natural for class I occlusion cels
I now have a class I occlusion that would probably be considered near perfect from a dentistry point of view but something about it quite literally doesn't sit right with me
When I had an underbite as a teen my bite just felt normal and it was never apparent to me that something about it was off until I had a set of mirrors that showed me my side profile for the first time.
After I had my braces removed my lower incidors were jammed backwards and my upper incisors were pushed forwards so that my lower incisors just about tucked in underneath and it felt like there was a lot of force keeping them in behind and stopping my lower jaw from jutting out again which is what I became comfortable with
Some idiot dentist filed down my upper incisors rather than repairing the cap which caused my lower incisors to no longer be tucked in with my mandible rammed back in so my mandible began to slide forward again which was uncomfortable for almost a decade
What I find strange about a class 1 occlusion with space behind my upper incisors and no touching between upper and lower incisors is that my mandible is just sitting there rather than being forcefully rammed back which was the sensation I grew to prefer
When my mouth is closed while in public and I am consciously aware of my bite, I simply cant let my jaw relax because the muscles in my face are so tense due to a class 1 occlusion where my incisors dont touch to any great extent.
I only feel comfortable when my mandible is jammed into position which was the case with compensation orthodontics briefly and also when I was wearing aligners + elastics so my mandible couldnt move much
Now that there is no weight keeping my mandible in place, it feels too weird and UNNATURAL
