I have a college degree from a good school and work in a blue collar job.

It’s not labor intensive at all. It’s generally pretty low stress and easy. About 3-4 hours of my daily shifts are just rotting. The hours suck, but it’s worth it. Additionally I have no asshole managers. I have nobody to answer to as long as I do my job.

The best part? This year so far I’ve made 45k in January and February, and these were low paying months. I think I will easily hit 300k+

It’s great right? If you’re in your 20s and have a job like this, you’re going to be able to buy houses/cars and invest.

The issue? People who make a quarter of what you make for twice the effort will turn their nose at you.

I’m not a plumber or a janitor or someone who works an “icky” job either. I’m a locomotive engineer for a commuter railroad. I drive trains. This is a very niche and many times complicated skill that requires a year + of intensive training to certify.

Despite this people (women especially) treat me like a loser. It crazy, because I have some coworkers with college degrees and previous careers. One of my coworkers was a scientist but dipped because of the shitty pay, but normies will refuse to respect this job.

The average cuck working in insurance making 55k a year is more respected.

Your job = your status = your value. Women and society worship low paying office jobs that contribute nothing to the world, but revile high paying trades that are necessary.

This is incorrect. Unions function quite differently from other jobs.

At my railroad the hourly rate is 62.3 BUT you cannot make less than 50 hours a week even if you work far less. The last 10 are overtime and you also get an extra 20 added per day. So overall the lowest paid at my job make about 185k.

Working your day off guarantees you 17 hours of pay no matter the shift.

If you work six days in a row you are legally required to take a day off. This day off is always paid 8 hours.

Additionally managers will add hours to your job depending on circumstance (e.g. if your train breaks down you they may pay you an extra 2 hours)

If your scheduled trips change at all you are given 2 hours. If your shift is changed at the last minute you’ll be given 12 hours.

It’s righteous dough, but there’s a cost of low status

How do you get into a union at a young age? Thought it was like seniority based and difficult to get in

It is. Every time I tell a girl about my job they always ask “but you went to college right!?”.
If you were HTN minimum, they'd be wet over the "rugged train conductor" aesthetic.

When I was a conductor I was able to slay actually. Conductor is the guy in uniform saying “all aboard” and taking the tickets. It pays way less but you’re able to meet a lot of women

accept that you need to go back to taking tickets if you want to slay again.

I'm calling bullshit.

bro it's not like foids actually care about what job a guy works as long as the title sounds cool and it's something they can boast to other people about, like "my man works in finance", "my husband is a lawyer", etc. just larp gng cuz you actually have the money to pull it off

"My man works in trains"

Hey are you the high net worth trains guy who made a similar thread years ago?

"My man works in trains"
Doesn’t even sound that bad imo. Men actually find it quite cool. Whenever I tell men what I do they instantly hammer with questions and consider it a cool job.

It’s women who for some reason disqualify operating a train. Imagine making an easy 200k in your 20s but women not taking you seriously because your drive a train. Crazy

As someone who has worked as a garbageman and warehouse worker i can confirm that women do indeed look down on this shit. You're like a tiny little ant

Respectfully, I don't think the job is what is constraining you. It could be a variety of things, but at the end of the day there are criminals and homeless dudes who get treated like kings just because of their appearance. You are doing good, bro; just gotta keep in mind how fucking dumb some people are and how they care about shit that doesn't make a difference.
