I don't know if he would retire, in many countries even "retired" doctors still perform medical procedures for their family, friends, neighbors, etc. in their own houses - bloodletting, enemas, the occasional abortion, pulling out teeth, etc...
I could imagine that even simple plastic surgery is doable at home, some dermal implants are inserted by tattoo artists for example.
