People think they are but they really aren't. I don't believe anyone will have 100% freewill unless you run the world or live in nature alone with no one to tell u what to do

bump + jfl everyone think they have free will

Free will is real because you can feel it introspectively. There’s no argument to disbeleive your intuition that could not just be applied to sight, smell, sound, or any other sense. But we’d obviously see the idea that saying that we don’t have a sense of taste because we can sometimes get tricked as ridiculous

It isn't even about genetics, everything is cause - reaction, what we can't predict is only because of scientifical ignorance

It depends what you consider “free will” if you consider humans formulating thoughts from experiences that were influenced from predetermined things like birth biology etc then no

being self conscious about your situation is important imo
if you acknowledged you don't have free will it actually help you when making decisions

The truth is that free will actually varies by individual. I.e their control to unconscious signalling.

Why do you think we don't have it? It is not provable in the absolute sense either way, it's more of a philosophical or metaphysical question. We can predict what people will do in a general sense, and of course we have reflexes that are uncontrollable like slapping something away in front of your eye, but these are very different than conscious choice which can never be solidly predicted

no because my brain chemistry was decided at birth and all environmental factors after that was decided through my family. Everything we are doing is not in your control. when u say u did something because u wanted to, it was actually just ur brain. everything u do is ur brain firing neurons and thats based on past experiences.

it simple logic the universe has rules and everything reacts accordingly your just a part of that reaction
your just trying to find relevance through something that mean shit were just a bunch "randomly" organized atoms

just because it to complex and hard to guess it doesnt mean there is meaning to it

I think the premise is false, that we can apply the rules and predict things in this way. We have experiences that cannot be explained in any physical way, and our willful reaction to these things is therefore unpredictable.

Although you could make an argument that all strictly material things, if set by absolute laws, could be perfectly predicted in a predetermined sense, the mind is not limited to these rules, nor is it bound by physical definitions like the brain or neurons. The physical world is artificially separated by us to understand things, but in reality there is nowhere the tree ends and the dirt begins, which makes any prediction in an absolute, deterministic sense impossible.

just making false claims

your just trying to push against my idea that everything can be explained there is no reason to think other wise
if there is something there need to be something that caused it just because it to hard to understand doesnt mean you cant

again this is like gods of the gap argument "i cant explain it , so there must be a god" type of argument which are faulty and illogical
you have no incenitve to think that thing in which you dont know is "free will"
but i can make the claim everything is cause-effect because thats the nature of everything we can observe so i migth not be proving anything but my view point is a lot more logical and plausible your is just idk so it must be free will

we obviously have free will
free will is not about whether you make choices,,,,,, its about whats driving them,,,, the feeling of "choosing freely" is just your subconscious processing whatever it may be,,,, ultimately presenting you with what FEELS like a decision,,,,
