It was created four thousand years ago. Where the average life span back then was 30. Get married at 13 have kids at 14-15 and die by the age of 29-30. A 20-15 years of commitment. Now the average lifespan can even reach up to 80. Get married at 25 have then die at 75. that's at least 50 years of a relationship that centers around devotion and absolute loyalty. To death do us apart becomes extremely hard when you apply such an old concept in such a modern world.

retarded misconception, people lived well into their 60s and even 70s back then, the reason you believe they died by the age of 30 is because life expectancy as a statistic was lowered by a lot because of deaths during infancy

once you lived to become a teen you basically had a good chance to live into your 50s at least

idc if it’s outdated i would like to get married one day and have family after having fun in 20s. i feel like it’s good to have someone with you whilst you deteriorate, would make life more interesting also

This is literally the reason why people used to have a ton of sons and daughters, because they usually died before starting to live. So just have a ton of offsprings and hope for the best, but once you get to a certain level you are pretty set for life.
Answering the post, it's outdated because of the liberalization of sex and the moral decomposition of western values.

Jfl the only ones living beyond their thirties were royalties and higher class people like nobility. The environment didn't allow for a long life expectancy back then. Shit diet, too many incurable diseases, and viruses, wars, lack of law and high rate of crime...ext and a plethora of factors that made life extremely hard to live beyond adolescence let alone live to your seventies.

That's not true at all actually.

From 1200 to 1745, 21-year-olds would reach an average age of anywhere between 62 and 70 years

Im pro-marriage. It just as a concept its not modern oriented with contemporary needs and circumstances

Yes kind of. It is unrealistic to expect marriage as we know it to be brought back since the cycle would repeat itself.

for a lot of women it’s nothing more than a deal for security in exchange for sex it seems like nowadays

i wish it wasn’t. but unfortunately marriage is dead
