It was created four thousand years ago. Where the average life span back then was 30. Get married at 13 have kids at 14-15 and die by the age of 29-30. A 20-15 years of commitment. Now the average lifespan can even reach up to 80. Get married at 25 have then die at 75. that's at least 50 years of a relationship that centers around devotion and absolute loyalty. To death do us apart becomes extremely hard when you apply such an old concept in such a modern world.

This is literally the reason why people used to have a ton of sons and daughters, because they usually died before starting to live. So just have a ton of offsprings and hope for the best, but once you get to a certain level you are pretty set for life.

Shit diet, too many incurable diseases, and viruses, wars, lack of law and high rate of crime...ext and a plethora of factors that made life extremely hard to live beyond adolescence let alone live to your seventies.
