You always send in your shit troops mixed with rocket artillery and air support to soften up the enemy and tire them out before you bring in your elite military. That's war strategy 101 if your opponent is incredibly weak.
And now nobody respects Russia. People knew Russia used some soviet era equipment, but I personally thought they would have pretty modern army all in all. But literally all of their equipment is soviet era and on top of that hasn't been properly maintained for years. Like what? Soldiers being fed 10 year old field rations? Did those oligarchs steal all the military budget?
No, you don't do that. The best men go naturally first hand, and even if that wasn't the case, Russia is already out of men to deploy. There are no elite troops waiting, they're all in Ukraine, even the national guard. They've also had to supplement the losses by mobilizing some reserve personnel, but the problem with that is that Russians don't train their reserves at all or have any allocated equipment for them, like in many western militaries.
They really don't. They've been saving the missiles. When Trump dropped missiles to that Syrian air base, he dropped 50+ to destroy it. That's what gets the job done. Russians have dropped like 3 missiles on the Ukrainian air bases and haven't been in many cases able to destroy the driveways. They also haven't been able to acquire air superiority over Ukraine. They showcase their modern tanks in their parades like T-14 Armata which is frankly a formidable battle tank, but only 70 have been produced over all these years. Vast majority of the tanks are T-72 and T-80 tanks, which are as the name says from the 70s and 80s respectively.
